Marine Stiff Boom Crane
Model 3TX9M

This classic marine crane features a robust, welded steel box-section boom and a versatile hydraulic drive that supports all primary operations: hoisting, outreach adjustment, and slewing.

The crane design provides higher lifting capacity than folding boom and knuckle boom models. It also offers exceptional reliability and minimal maintenance requirements. This solution is optimal for applications where performance is paramount and sufficient operating clearance is available.

Model 3TX9M is designed for handling loads of up to 3 t and features a 9 m boom. Operational flexibility is provided by a local control station or a remote control pendant, connected via cable or radio link.

Stiff Boom Crane: Innovations in Marine Lifting Systems

The stiff boom design allows precise load handling along a defined path, reducing lateral load displacement and minimizing the need for additional deck maneuvering. The stiff boom crane ensures a compact equipment layout, simplifying interaction with other deck machinery and vessel superstructures. The integration of hydraulics and electronics enables quick adjustment of load speed and direction in response to operating conditions.

Hydraulic System and Control

The crane’s electro-hydraulic drive ensures smooth and precise movement of the boom and winch drum. The combination of hydraulic and electronic systems enables the operator to control each function with minimal response delay. A portable remote control pendant, available with both a radio link and a 15 m cable, enables operation from a safe distance while maintaining maneuverability and precision.

Design and Vessel Integration

The crane column is designed to accommodate the hydraulic power unit either inside the barbette or, when no barbette is provided, inside the vessel structure. This reduces installation complexity and simplifies maintenance. The boom head is equipped with a high-output floodlight, enabling operation under limited lighting conditions. The column design allows for the installation of additional service elements, expanding the crane’s functionality without modifying the base configuration.

Ergonomics and Operational Safety

Controls and soft-start systems are arranged to minimize dynamic loads on the structure and stabilize load movement during vessel heel and trim. Identification plates, warning signs, and visual information elements are provided in Russian, simplifying crew operation and reducing the risk of errors.

Engineering Solutions and Adaptation to Marine Conditions

Izhora Hydrosystems LLC designs stiff boom cranes with consideration of temperature ranges, marine humidity, and hull vibrations. All electrical equipment complies with the applicable IP protection ratings, and hydraulic components are resistant to seawater exposure. This equipment configuration enables efficient cargo handling even in challenging sea states and confined deck spaces.

Applications and Functional Capabilities

The use of a stiff boom crane increases cargo handling efficiency, improves load positioning accuracy, and reduces the risk of damage to both the equipment and the cargo. Flexible control configuration and integration with the vessel’s hydraulic and electrical infrastructure make the equipment suitable for operations within a limited working radius and under demanding external conditions.
