Marine Knuckle Boom Crane: A Compact and Powerful Solution for Onboard Cargo Operations
In the maritime industry, versatile lifting equipment is a key element in ensuring operational efficiency and crew safety on board. This is especially relevant for small and medium-sized vessels, where deck space is limited and weather conditions are often unpredictable. A marine knuckle boom crane enables fast, precise, and safe cargo handling operations.

Balancing Size and Capability
In designing the knuckle boom crane, the primary challenge was to combine compact dimensions with high lifting capacity. A boom outreach range of 1.5 to 8 meters allows the crane to handle cargo of varying weight and volume while remaining compact and easy to install. A maximum lifting capacity of up to 1.5 tonnes at a 5.5-meter outreach covers a wide range of typical deck operations.

Technologies for Marine Operations
The marine environment demands high performance and reliability from onboard equipment. The hydraulic winch drive ensures smooth and precise load handling, while 360° continuous slewing expands the working area, enabling maneuverability even in confined spaces. Electrical equipment is protected to the IP56 standard, ensuring resistance to moisture, splashes, and salt mist.

Intuitive Control and Ease of Maintenance
The crane is operated via a stand-alone local control station, providing safe and convenient control of all operating functions. The scope of supply includes necessary spare parts and tools for routine maintenance, allowing the equipment to remain operational during long voyages without the need for external service teams.
Yacht-Grade Design
Special attention is given to deck equipment designed for motor yachts and passenger vessels. In addition to strict functional requirements, such products must meet enhanced aesthetic standards, referred to as yacht-grade design. This means the crane must not only be easy to operate but also aesthetically refined, harmoniously integrating into the vessel’s exterior.
High-quality paintwork, meticulous attention to every structural detail, and a carefully considered design are essential for premium-grade equipment. Until recently, the Russian market for such cranes was dominated by imported models. However, since February 2022, deliveries of foreign equipment have virtually ceased.
Izhora Hydrosystems LLC offers a domestic solution. The company manufactures yacht-grade cranes, launch and recovery systems (LARS), and gangways across all lifting capacities and configurations, certified by the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping and the Russian River Register. Production of the first RMRS-certified knuckle boom crane of this class, featuring an 8-meter outreach and a 2-tonne maximum lifting capacity, has now been completed.

Innovations in Onboard Lifting
Marine knuckle boom cranes open new possibilities for onboard operations. The combination of increased lifting capacity, precise control, and adaptability to limited deck space enables the implementation of complex engineering solutions and non-standard deck operations. This equipment expands the operational capabilities of small and medium-sized vessels, making their operation more flexible and technologically advanced.
